2017 Pedigree notes
Gregorian’s dam Three Days In May, is a Cadeaux Genereaux mare, thus Gregorian shares close blood nicks with National Stud stalwart Bahamian Bounty. Mares that have been successfully mated with Bahamian Bounty should match very well with Gregorian. Gregorian is sired by Clodovil (Danehill ex Clodora (Linamix), both Clodovil and Bahamian Bounty are known for breeding sound, genuine and honest racehorses – after all they are the sires of the 2013 and 2014 G3 Hungerford Stakes winners in Gregorian and Breton Rock.
Both Clodovil and Bahamian Bounty work well with Mr. Prospector. Bahamian Bounty has worked very well with Gulch mares, for instance, Cherry Hinton winner Sendmylovetorose and Machiavellian is dam-sire of Babodana. Clodovils that also work well from this cross include Shining Emerald (Zafonic), I’m So Glad (Almutawakel), Madam Picasso (Titus Livius), Moss Likely (Lycius) and Amazing Storm (Woodman).
In terms of the Storm Bird line – examples such as Clodovil’s Miss Lahar (Mujadil) and Murra Niedda (Mujadil) and Bahamian Bounty’s Dick Poole Fillies Stakes G3 progeny New Providence (Giant’s Causeway) show that this too would be a successful cross.
Clodovil’s Alben Star is out of a Green Desert – Danzig line while Bahamian Bounty’s Listed placed Di Stefano (Desert Sun) also works with this family.
Clodovil has an affinity with Ahonoora line mares e.g. Group 1 Falmouth Stakes winner Nahoodh is out of an Indian Ridge mare descending from Ahonoora while Group 2 Lennox Stakes winner Es Que Love has an Inchinor dam. Other Stakes performers on the Clodovil / Ahonoora cross are Alice’s Dancer and Cloud (both Indian Ridge). Ahonoora line sires that may nick very well with Gregorian are Acclamation, New Approach, Cape Cross, and Leroidesanimaux.
Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes winner Beacon Lodge is derived from the Northern Dancer line through a Royal Academy mare, other Stakes performers that represent a Northern Dancer cross include Kane’s Pass (Montjeu), Tigrilla (Sadler’s Wells), Secret Asset (Soviet Star), Naseem Alyasmeen (Galileo), Kickboxer (Niniski), Maid In Heaven (Lomond) and Mauriac (Pentire). The Never Bend line works well also, Group 2 Prix de Sandringham winner Laugh Out Loud (Darshaan) represents the Nasrullah line through Mill Reef. Another Clodovil Stakes performer, Sognando La Cometa, represents the good cross between Darshaan and Clodovil.
While Group 3 Prix de Moussac placed Coupe de Ville (Fantastic Light) is an excellent example of the Nasrullah line through the Blushing Groom / Red God family being successful with Clodovil.
The Listed Premio Coolmore winner Sorella Bella (Diesis), and Leading Turkish two-year-old colt Berkarar (Selkirk), Rock My Soul (Cadeaux Genereux) and Gregorian himself are a strain of Raise A Native sire-line through Sharpen Up, as is Gregorian’s sister, Manderley won was Guineas placed in 2014.
