BETVICTOR WORLD MATCHPLAY

Betting and gaming company BetVictor has become the new title sponsor of the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) World Matchplay tournament in a three-year deal brokered by the CMSeven agency.

This year’s UK£100,000 BetVictor World Matchplay, the 20th edition of the event, takes place at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool from 20th to 28th July. The reigning champion is world number one Phil Taylor (pictured), who has won the event no less than 13 times.

“These are very exciting times in the world of darts and, after a magnificent World Championship and Premier League, we are delighted to lend our name to the BetVictor World Matchplay from the iconic Winter Gardens Blackpool,” BetVictor’s marketing director Karl Riley said in a statement.

PDC chairman Barry Hearn added: “It is a pleasure to welcome BetVictor as the new title sponsors of the BetVictor World Matchplay. This tournament is a favourite for players, fans and television viewers around the world and enjoys a deserved status as one of the most prestigious titles in the sport.”
